Mangaluru, Sep 29: Former MLC Ivan D'Souza said that the governor should intervene as the state government is engulfed in corruption and demanded chief minister (CM) B S Yediyurappa to submit resignation and call for election.

Addressing the media here on Tuesday September 29, MLC Ivan said, "The state government is drowned in corruption. Coronavirus cases are on the rise. As opposition, we had warned the government to make proper arrangements. Even during Assembly sessions, Siddaramaiah gave detailed information about the failure in arrangements by the state government to tackle corona pandemic.

“In the Assembly, BJP denied the allegations over corruption in the name of corona pandemic. There are no proper arrangements made. There is scarcity of beds, oxygen beds, ventilators, sanitizers, and PPE kits. We demand the chief minister and district in-charge minister to provide ventilators. The government has no road map further to tackle corona pandemic and they are only focused on generating money and are into corruption,” he said.

The former MLC alleged that the chief minister and his family is involved in corruption in housing projects and received Rs 24 crore of kickbacks in the project for construction of apartments by Bangalore Development Authority (BDA). "The media which exposed the corruption has been shut down by the government. Rs 7.4 crore being transferred through RTGS into a bank account proved that the government run by Yediyurappa was indulging in rampant corruption. There are two types of taxes - one in GST, other is VST which stands for Vijayendra Service tax," said MLC Ivan.

"Vijayendra is a super chief minister as there is no work being done without his consultation. There are full documents and proof against chief minister Yediyurappa with regard to corruption. Now what action will be taken against Yediyurappa by BJP? The party has no courage to order an investigation into the issue. When Congress was in power, we had ordered an investigation whenever the opposition demanded," he said.
