Raichur: Two injured as bridge crashes in MLA's presence

Raichur, Sep 29: In an incident which occurred in the presence of an MLA who was on a visit to assess rain-related damage, a bridge crashed, injuring two persons in the bargain. This incident happened at Nugadoni Hosur in Sirwar taluk.

The bridge stated above had collapsed partially on September 26 because of torrential rain experienced in the region. On Monday September 28, Manvi MLA Venkatappa Nayak, had visited the village to check rain-related devastation in the area. At that time, the bridge crashed fully. Two villagers, Hanumanth and Shivaram Reddy, were injured in the incident.

The MLA took the injured to hospital in his car and got them treated. Many said that the bridge had already become weak, having crashed partially. They added that many had gathered because of the MLA's presence, and that is why, unable to bear the weight, the bridge went down completely.
