Theives strike at house of famous Hindi writer in Patna

Patna, Sep 30 (IANS): Thieves have stolen priceless books and other artworks of famous Hindi writer Phanishwar Nath Renu from his house in Patna's upscale Rajendra Nagar, an official said on Wednesday.

Renu's house is located at block number 2 of a residential society near Rajendra Nagar roundabout. The house was temporarily occupied by the brother-in-law of Renu's son Dakshineshwar Prasad Rai. He is preparing for competitive exams while staying in the house though he was elsewhere for the last 10 days.

Patna police claims that it is handiwork of local thieves as the house was locked for the last 10 days. Following the scanning of CCTV footage, two men were spotted moving suspiciously.

"The investigation is currently underway. We have some leads and are working on it. We suspect that thieves executed the crime last night. They will be behind bars soon," said SHO of Kadam Kuan police station.

During investigation, books such as 'Maila Anchal', first edition of Thumari and Parti and handwritten famous book 'Kagal Ki Naav' were stolen. All these books bear the signature of Renu. Besides, the theives also took away some stencils and a handpump.

The incident came to light on Wednesday after Namrata Sinha, the youngest daughter of Renu, went to the house in the morning. She found that the door was broken and valuables missing from the house. She immediately informed local police. Sinha live in adjoining Mela Tanki area.

The famous Raj Kapoor movie 'Teesri Kasam' was based on Renu's book 'Mare Gaye Gulfam'. Renu is considered the most successful Hindi writer of the mordern era after Prem Chand.

    Leaders are busy changing names, film stars are busy dealing with drug use, media busy with SSR case, polititians are busy passing biils of their taste. These poor marginalized don't even get the dead body of their child. What happens to our vocal women, human right activist. How long we need to wait to see our children, women can walk freely any time if the day n night. Why as society all of us come togather n put an end to theses inhuman acts. O UP o UP when will u stop this it's a high time to change yourself UP n change name for better tomorrow.
