Udupi: Dalit Sangharasha Samithi protests against Hathras gang rape incident

Udupi, Oct 2: Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samithi garlanded the replica of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, carried it like a corpse and protested in front of Ajjarkad memorial on October 1 demanding that the accused in the Hathras gangrape case get the harshest punishment. The organisation also demanded the resignation of Uttar Pradesh chief minister.

Dalit Sangharsha Samithi district chief convener Sunder Master condemning the brutal rape of the Dalit girl in Uttar Pradesh said that several atrocities are in progress against Dalits in Uttar Pradesh. But the Modi government has remained quiet. The Prime Minister is putting forth the BJP agenda. Difficult days are ahead for Dalits, Backward class and minorities. Where are the leaders of Hindu organizations hiding now? All should join to exterminate BJP, he said in anguish.

“Adityanath should resign and the rapists should be arrested immediately. Police personnel remaining quiet on communal backing without registering FIR even though there are witnesses to the crime makes clear what protection Yogi Adityanath can give in Uttar Pradesh," he said.

“Setting fire to the corpse at 2.30 am at a deserted place on directions from the chief minister is condemnable. The family of the girl should get justice. A suitable investigation should be conducted,” he urged.

Harshakumar Kugwe said that Yogi Adityanath is a useless chief minister. “People should wake up before other villages in the country become Hathras. He is not only the chief minister but the one who thrusts the policy of rapists. Let him resign immediately,” he added.

Dalit leader Sham Raj Birthi, other organization leaders Amrith Shenoy, Hussain Kodibengre, Dr William Martis, Yasin Malpe, Idris Hoode, Janardhan Bhandarkar, Vinutha Kiran and others were present.
