Mangaluru district administration observes 151st Gandhi Jayanthi

Mangaluru, Oct 2: District administration observed 151st Gandhi Jayanthi here at Mahatma Gandhi Park on Friday October 2.

District in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary and other dignitaries present garlanded the Mahatma Gandhi statue.

Speaking on the occasion, Kota said. "Today we are observing the 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhiji fought for the country's independence and was a believer of non-violence. Today, everyone speaks about Mahatma Gandhiji, for uniting people through peace, harmony and faith. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced Swachh Bharat back in October 2, 2014 keeping in line with Gandhiji vision of a clean India."

District president Bharatha Seva Dal Basheer Baikampady welcomed the gathering.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Rajendra K V, mayor Diwakar, assistant commissioner Madan Mohan, deputy mayor Vedavathi, MCC commissioner Akshay Sridhar, zilla panchayat CEO Dr Selvamani and others were present.
