Udupi, Oct 2: The district Congress staged a protest in front of Mayrtrs’ Memorial ground Ajjarkad here on Friday October 2, against the failure of the government and its 'autocratic' policies.

KPCC panellist Sudhir Kumar Maroli addressing the protestors said, "The BJP government insults other communities, labourers, and farmers and attacks internal enemies. BJP got infected by coronavirus six and a half years ago. The BJP led government is targeting minority communities. Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath is not fit to be called as ‘Yogi’. There are Hindu Sangh Parivar Sanghatans that support him."

Sudhir condemned the recent rape and murder incident in Hathras and alleged that the government and police tried to destroy every shred of evidence. "This should not happen and the accused should get severe punishment. Manisha's family should get justice," he demanded.

"Even the economic status of the country is getting worse," he said.

He slammed BJP senior leader Eshwarappas’s and said that he has no control over his tongue and added that BJP state president Nalin Kumar is an entertainer in the party. "Let the BJP have some courtesy, love, sympathy and helping nature. The BJP government is making people believe in the APMC and Land Reform Acts," Sudhir said.

Former MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake said that there is an undeclared economic crisis in the nation. There are lots of scams being reported in the nation. The BJP led union government is forcefully imposing Acts on people, he said.

“Three Bills on agriculture reforms The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, which were passed through an ordinance is against the Constitution. The government does not want the farmers to own land.

"Now we are under an autocratic rule which does not give the right to protest. The government is trying to suppress our freedom and is taking away democratic rights from all of us," said Sorake.

Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, president, district Congress Committee, Prakhyath Shetty, Ramesh Kanchan, Geetha Vagle, district president, Mahila Congress, Harish Shetty Pangala, Veronica Cornelio, Yatish Karkera, Shashidhar Shetty Yermal, Dr William Martis, Dr Roshni Olivera, Harish Kini, Sugandhi Shekhar, Prakash Jathanna and others were present.
