Bengaluru: Mohandas Pai to be conferred honorary doctorate by RCU

Bengaluru, Oct 4: Chairman of Manipal Global Education T V Mohandas Pai will be conferred honorary doctorate by Rani Channamma University (RCU), Belagavi, along with sports administrator K Govindraj and Jagadguru Rajayogindra Swami.

The honorary doctorate will be conferred during the University's eighth convocation ceremony to be held on Monday October 5. Rani Channamma University was established in the year 2010 by the government of Karnataka.

The ceremony will be held in both online and offline mode at the Suvarna Soudha under strict COVID guidelines.

While only a hundred students will attend the ceremony in person to receive their degrees, nearly 33,800 students will receive their degree certificates in absentia, informed vice-chancellor Ramachandra Gowda,

Governor and chancellor of the university Vajubhai Vala and pro-chancellor and minister for higher education C N Ashwath Narayan will participate in the ceremony. National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) director S C Sharma is slated to deliver the convocation address.

A recipient of the Padma Shri Award, Mohandas Pai has in the past served as director of Infosys and as its chief financial officer. He has also worked with financial regulators to enhance the ease of doing business and been a member of SEBI. He has also devoted his efforts to boost education and research, and is a co-founder of Akshaya Patra Foundation, Bengaluru that provides mid-day meal to school students.

    You also mind behind Akshaya Patra - which got name worldwide for serving fresh meals for 15 lac childer daily

    Mohandas Pai, present Chairman of Aarin Capital and Manipal Global Education is a Padma Shri Awardee and former CFO and Board Member at Infosys. He is also the co-founder of Akshaya Patra, the world's largest midday meal program, and works actively with government and regulators on policy recommendations and guidelines.
    He has served as the Chairman of the Board of SEBI, and is now a Board Member of the National Stock Exchange in India. He has emerged as one of India's most prolific angel investors.
    He has helped start over 10 different funds in venture, growth, and public markets. He also leads a private equity fund - Aarin Capital - along with Manipal Group Chairman Ranjan Pai that invests in life sciences and education companies. A selection of the companies include Byju's, Counsyl, ZoomCar, Praxify, YourStory, and Licious.
