Mangaluru, Oct 5: "BJP government should be named as 'an attention diversion government'," said Congress MLA U T Khader.
Addressing media here on Monday, Khader said, "Today CBI conducted raids across 14 locations which belong to Congress leader DK Shivakumar. BJP is concerned about losing the elections, and therefore involved in diverting the attention of the people. The BJP-government has never been in favour of people. Even this raid was politically motivated."
Talking about the Uttar Pradesh incident, Khader maintained that none of the BJP leaders had voiced against it or expressed their views on Twitter. "A channel that exposed Yediyurappa’s son for receiving kickbacks, was banned. Protection is being given out to all those who support the BJP government and those who speak out against them are being penalised," Khader stated.
Former MLC Ivan D'Souza said, "The raids which were carried out at different locations owned by DK Shivakumar were just tactics used by BJP to divert the mind of the public. There was no genuine reason behind the raid. I challenge chief minister Yediyurappa to order a CBI probe against his son and relatives for receiving Rs 17 crore kickbacks and also against the Centre for their scam of Rs 2,000 crore in the name of coronavirus. Why there is no CBI probe even when there is a proof? BJP is not quite courageous when it comes to allowing CBI probe into the unearthing corruption caused by the BJP."
"BJP is aware of the positive development of Congress and reaching out to the people and to restrict Congress wave, BJP politically motivated raid on D K Shivakumar," said Ivan.
Earlier in the day, district Youth INTUC had staged a protest opposite the district Congress office in Mallikatte against the CBI raid at D K Shivakumar residences and raised slogans against the BJP government.
District Youth INTUC president Chiranjeevi Anchan, district vice president Vishal Poojary, south constituency president Puneeth Shetty, Ullal constituency president Siddique Ullal and state general secretary Youth INTUC Dinaker Shetty and others were present in the protest.
