Karnataka education minister Suresh Kumar tests positive for coronavirus

Bengaluru, Oct 5 (IANS): Karnataka's education minister S Suresh Kumar on Monday said he has tested positive for coronavirus and had quarantined himself at his home here.

"As I have tested positive for Covid-19, I will be home quarantined for a few days on the advice of doctors. No need to panic as there are no symptoms," he said in a tweet in Kannada.

The 64-year-old Suresh Kumar, who had supervised the secondary school leaving certificate (Class 10) board exams in June-July and in one subject for pre-university course students on June 18, is the latest state minister to be infected by the virus.

Among the Covid-hit ministers were chief minister BS Yediyurappa, deputy chief ministers Govind Karjol and C N Ashwath Narayan, J C Madhuswamy, Basavaraj Bommai, K Gopalaiah, Byrathi Basavaraj, Prabhu Chavan, Shivaram Hebbar, K S Eshwarappa and B Sriramulu.

According to Assembly Speaker Vishwanath Hegde Kageri, about 70 legislators of the BJP, and the opposition Congress and Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) contracted the virus ahead of the 6-day monsoon session in September.

Among the infected Congress were Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah, state unit President DK Shivakumar and lawmakers HK Patil and Dinesh Gundu Rao.

Big news Suresh Kumar tests positive. No problem for him as he gets FREE treatment. It's God's will, any doubt. So don't you think it's better not to open the schools. Many parents may lose their children. Think over while resting

He is saying there are no symptoms, yet he is positive....i agree with Naresh, Kerala. That means these people keep on doing covid tests every now and then I feel they don't have to pay the testing charges and what so ever. It's next to impossible for school/college going students and their parents to do the tests which are costly. If he is positive without showing symptoms, that means there will be many people positive all around. Then how wise is his decision to open schools and put everyone into a huge problem? After school/college starts, one by one of the students teachers will get positive reports because of asymptomatic when they travel by bus/auto/school van etc and all will be quarantined simultaneously.... And again structures will stand without the wards. Education minister speaks about how everything will be fine if everyone maintains distance and cleanliness but ironically he himself fell sick. We can always tell others what to do but we won't follow it

Are these people getting tested regularly or does this person have the sixth sense to get tested for Covid without having any symptoms?

    Anyways, wish you speed recovery.
