Mangalore: Rains Visit Several Parts of Twin-districts

Mangalore, Apr 17: Several places in the twin-districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada received good rains late night on Thursday and again on the evening of Friday April 16. Udupi and Karkala taluks in Udupi district got most of the rain.

Rains accompanied by lightning lashed Udupi and Hiriyadka in Udupi taluk and Hirgana, Kervashe, Ajekar, Kukkundoor, Bajagoly and Hosmar in Karkala taluk. A woman named Jayanti Shetty from Kadtamar in Kadtala village was admitted into a hospital in Karkala after she sustained injuries caused by lightning. A house in Kadtala and another in Shivapura villages were damaged after lightning struck, causing a damage of about Rs 20,000. Tiles of several houses in Mutlupady in Karkala taluk were blown away because of rain and strong wind.

Many places in Beltangady, Sullia, Puttur and Beltangady taluks in Dakshina Kannada district reported good rains on Friday evening, with some other places recording only a drizzle. Mangalore taluk was spared of any rain.

The meteorological department has predicted rains in Coastal Karnataka during the next two days.
