Brahmavar, Oct 6: At a time when there are reports of some government schools shutting down because of lack of students, the number of students of Brahmavar government model higher primary school is increasing every year.

Out of 93 government schools in Bahmavar block, this school has registered the highest number of admissions. Since the last five years, the number of students in this school is rising. Because of the quality of education and style of teaching the school has been attracting students. Due to coronavirus-induced financial slump, several students have left private schools and sought admission into the government schools in other places but not here. Because the number of students has been steadily rising from 272 in 2015 to 465 now with a steady increase every year.

Teaching in English medium was started two years back. This year, 81 students from private English medium private schools have joined here. The school, which has 125 years of history, having set up in 1895, there are many past students of the school who have adorned high positions.

Out of the 465 students who come from different places to this school, 16 do not have smartphones. The school has 13 teachers all of them being ladies. There is a shortage of three teaching staff. Three more teachers are needed and the post of the headteacher is vacant.

Acting headteacher Nandini says that the staff of the school have been giving good quality education towards shaping them into excellent future citizens. There has been an increase in the number of students. President of the school development and monitoring committee Pandurang Kulal says that the people have to change their mindset about government schools. He said that parents should send their children to government schools everywhere.
