Udupi, Oct 7: At a time when the general perception that the youngsters of today have not been passionate about their mother tongue, Kannada, here is an entrepreneur who has named his daughter who was born in November, as 'Kannada'. Prathap Shetty and Prathima Shetty couple from Nempu in Kundapur taluk are the ones who have exemplified their passion for the Kannada language.

The couple got their first child in the form of Kannada, who was born at Bengaluru on November 27 last year. Prathap Shetty, who is an internal designing contractor by profession, has settled down at Bannerghatta Road in Bengaluru since the last 25 years.

Prathap confesses that during his visits to Tamil Nadu in connection with his profession, he had often come across people named as 'Tamilarasan, Tamiludurai,' etc. He wanted to christen his child similarly so that at least when addressing the child, the word, 'Kannada', gets repeated. He said his wife supported his feelings. "I cannot explain my thoughts about naming my daughter in a few words," he said.
