Chennai, Oct 8: K Palaniswami, chief minister of Tamil Nadu on Thursday, October 8 requested B S Yediyurappa to fill vacancies of Tamil teachers in government and state-aided schools, citing an association’s plea.

The TN chief minister said that over the years, while the Karnataka government started many Tamil schools in various districts to enable Tamil students to study in their mother tongue and granted approval as well as grants to private Tamil schools, a representation has now been received by his government on vacancies.

In a letter addressed to Yediyurappa, Palaniswami said, “We have received a representation from the Karnataka Tamil School and College Teachers Association, indicating that there are many vacancies of Tamil teachers in government and government aided schools and that the state government has also not given approval for opening new private Tamil schools. I enclose a copy of the representation for your kind perusal.”

Palaniswami requested Yediyurappa to grant permission to open new private schools with Tamil as a medium of instruction and grant them recognition. He also asked to reopen recently closed schools.

He further urged the restoration of Tamil schools that were converted into other language schools apart from filling up vacancies of Tamil language teachers.

He pointed that Tamilians have immensely contributed to the all-round economic development of Karnataka state and particularly the Tamilians have made major contribution for the development of Kolar Gold Mines, Hutti Gold Mines, Sandur Manganese Mines, Coffee Estates in Chikmagalur, Mangalore etc. He added that the Tamilians have been playing a major role in construction and agriculture sectors in Karnataka, he said and requested action to protect the interests of Tamil speaking people.

Deshbhakt, Mangalore...there are many from Karnataka in Tamil nadu and vice versa is also true. None of them have migrated for the benefit of the Government. But the Government is benefitiing because of their (migrated peoples) success.

Oh yes, India is one nation, whether TN, Karnataka, Kerala, Maha, Guj or any other state, people are free to work anywhere in the country. Whereas TN govt is talking about the welfare of it's people in Karnataka saying they contributed towards the development of the state hence Karnataka govt should employ TN teachers to teach Tamil.

What I'm asking is, whether Kar govt is equally concerned about jobs for Kannadigas in other states. Both states spend from taxes collected, nobody is doing social service. We Kannadigas too should be equally enthusiastic in looking for jobs than engaging in communally sensitive issues.

I think Tamilnadu Government pays salary for the Tamil teachers in Karnataka and also if private parties or Tamilnadu Government wants to start Tamil medium schools in Karnataka must be allowed and vice versa. India is one and anybody must be allowed to do such things at their own cost and not definitely at cost of Karnataka tax payers.

Tamils came to Karnataka to contribute towards development ? Why ? Kannadigas are childless ? Their children don't require jobs ? Or, they went TN seeking jobs hence they were employed and their children are studying in schools teaching Kannanda in TN ?

Strange. Our youngsters go after cows and monitoring dating couples while TN and Keralite people find employment in our state.
