Mangaluru: Customs officials seize gold worth Rs 25.45 lac from Dubai returnee

Mangaluru, Oct 8: Customs officials at Mangaluru airport have seized gold valued at Rs 25,45,920 from a passenger who had arrived from Dubai on an Air India Express flight on October 4.

The gold was said to have been concealed inside the heating element of an electric rice cooker. 

The accused has been identified as Sumesh a resident of Kasargod.

As per reports, the luggage of the passenger was detained on October 4 for detailed inspection. Following the evidence which surfaced, Sumesh was arrested and produced before the court on Thursday, October 8.
