Udupi: Car Turns Turtle – Three Fatally Injured

Udupi, Apr 19: Three persons were fatally injured when the car which they were traveling skidded off the road and turned turtle at Kaup on National Highway 17 here on Sunday April 18.
 


The critically injured are identified as 22-year-old Shashank, 21-year-old Sushan and 35-year-old Pratviraj Shetty, who were traveling towards Mangalore, when their car skidded off NH 17 at Kaup, here owing to mild showers.
 
All the three injured are admitted to a private hospital in Mangalore. Kaup police has registered a case in this regard.

    This stretch of the NH 17 from Pangala till Yermal is one of the dangerous and UNSAFE road in India ,which seen numerous deadly accident. No authority bothered to investigate the unsafe conditions of this road , at an average one accident takes place each day. On 18th April10 ,one bike accident ,the rider injured and out of dangeour & 300 mt away another accident in 3 hrs difference in Koppalngadi which killed one bike rider & this accident ,just imagine how serious this issue?

    Erect crash-barriers at places where there are chances of vehicles skidding off the road.This would help save fatatlies and serious accidents

    At the very glance of the headlines of the news item I guessed that the incidence is at NH 17 near Kaup.Yes,my guess was right.We were seeing a number of accidents taking place in the NH 17 between Pangala-Kaup every year during the onset of monsoon/ first showers.This is due to skidding of the veehicles due to mix up of oil on the road with rain water. So many lives have been lost in the accidents in these area in road accidents in the past.

    It is high time that the District Administration take immediate steps, in the interest of general public ,to caution the vihicle commuters against the probable danger by putting up properly worded hoardings in the NH between Pangala bridge and Kaup so that accidents could be averted.This is very essential as the area is highly accident prone one.Let us ensure that no life is lost in road accidents this/future rainy season due to above cited reason.
