Mangaluru: Mother feeds sleeping tablets to kids, commits suicide by hanging, child dies at hospital

Mangaluru, Oct 10: A woman committed suicide after feeding sleeping tablets to her children at Kankanady here on Saturday October 10.

The deceased has been identified as Pramila (38). The incident took place at Preeti Nagar, Shakti Nagar, Mangaluru.

Her ten-month-old child Aishani died in the hospital. She had fed sleeping tablets to the grandmother and children in the morning. The incident came to light when the grandmother woke up in the evening.

A death note was found. Dispute with the husband is suspected to be the cause of the suicide.

    Poverty, unemployment, sickness and financial hardships when all such difficulties come in the normal life of a poor family it could be a disaster. Helplessness overtakes human’s patience and the end result is drastic. God forbid.

    I want to bring this to the notice of all the readers. I was their neighbor for many years. As far as i know, they were always a happy family. I am hearing about the mother suffering from depression after the 2nd child. I dont think it is wise on our part to shame the husband, without knowing the real story. I am not endorsing him. But the victims husband, as much as i know him is a very hard working person and very very levelheaded. Apparently there is a sucide note and ideally we the people should refrain from judging the poor husband till we all know the real story. We all are astounded to hear the news, because Pammiakka as we called her was a very warm, social proactive human being. So let us all do justice to this family. I wonder what would be going through her husband. May God give him the strength to move on.

    I am appaled at such happenings and the victims always give chances after chances to put things in order. If nothing works, then this is the end. Since you know this family, the readers should immediately shift their focus from the husband and wait for the investigation to conclude. Let us sympathyze with the husband and may God give him strength and courage. R.I.P.

    Divorce is the most unfortunate circumstance for any couple. But, Killing self and innocent children is the worst thing. unfortunately, society and governments are more concerned about divorce/Talaq but not suicide.
    According to the findings of the study, it was observed that the negative approach of families and society towards the divorced women limits the relationships of women with their friends, relatives and entourage; and this condition makes the life of women even harder. To minimize the negativity that women encounter, social and psychological support should be given and consultancy service should be provided to these women and their families.

    I feel extremely sorry when a mother gives sleeping tablets to her young and infant children and commits suicide. Unfortunately, a woman who is not able to stand up by herself, is trapped completely, when she begets children, if the husband is a drunkard, insincere and plays with other women.

    Friends, when we marry, we are determined to make happy the life of our partner. We say "I do, and not I will try" when we marry. As psychologists said, a woman feels very happy even with a small happy incidence and feels very sad with a little sad incident. In marriage, there should not be any place for ego, since both of you are equal partners, One thing remember, some misunderstanding between a couple is unavoidable and I was told by one person, never leave the house leaving your spouse alone after a major fight. If your wife comes to you with a problem, what she wants is not a solution, but your attention.

    Santan Sir... Mind blowing comment for you sir. What you mentioned in the first paragraph especially those last words are really true. Some wives take up with the help of their parental support/some take up courage and fight alone work hard and educate the children and some opt for suicide. Everyone is unique Santan Sir... It's really sad to know.

    A very sad incident . Killing self and child ..may their soul rest in peace . After delivery the body and mind of a woman becomes weak and during this time she needs care and support from close contacts . Also any dispute may come , it is the love and affection towards the children keeps most of the women alive . May be she failed to control her mind taking such a step .

    Very very sad to read. It's really difficult for a mother with children to look after their needs if husband doesn't cooperate/undestand and love the woman whom he marries...!! May the departed souls rest in peace....
