Udupi: Hathras case - Protesters slam UP CM Yogi Adityanath, burn his effigy

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (MS/HB)

Udupi, Oct 11: Convener of 'Udupi Chalo' B R Bhaskar Prasad on Saturday October 10 alleged that Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath was protecting Hathras rape accused as they belong to a particular community.

An effigy of Yogi Adityanath was also burnt on the occasion as the protesters expressed their rage against the rape and murder of Dalit girl in Hathras of Uttar Pradesh. The protest was held on Saturday at the War Memorial near Ajjarkad in the city.

Bhaskar Prasad further said, "CM of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath does not have the character of a sage. He is mentally sick. He is a disgrace to his position and the saffron cloth he is wearing. Yogi had 52 criminal cases filed against him before he won the elections. After his reign has started in UP, atrocities on Dalits by people of upper castes have increased considerably.

"It is condemnable that the UP government has gone to the extent of defending the rape and murder of the Dalit girl. The act of UP police of preventing and manhandling Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi from visiting the family of the victim girl is condemnable. BJP, which boasts of revering women is behaving in unethical manner with the women.

"Yogi Adityanath is trying to protect the accused of Hathras rape case just because they belong to the same caste as that of Yogi. In the same place if the victim girl belonged to upper caste and the accused had been a Dalit, his dead body would be thrown by this time on the street. If the Hathras rape accused is still alive, our system is responsible for it. The system of our country should change drastically. Atrocities conducted on Dalits should stop. Scores of rapists who are in prison should be punished."

Labour leader B M Bhat, leaders Jayan Malpe, Sundar Kappettu, Ramesh Pal, Ganesh Nergi, Manjunath Giliyaru, district president of Ambedkar Yuvasene Harish Salian Malpe, president of Kaup taluk Lokesh Padubidri, Malpe president Krishna Sriyan Nergi, leaders Manjunath Kappettu, Santhosh Kappettu, Bhagawan Malpe, Shashikala Thottam, Congress office bearers Ramesh Kanchan, Veronica Cornelio, Dr Sunita, Udyavar Nagesh Kumar, district unit president of All Karnataka D K Shivakumar Fans' association Charan Bangera Doddanagudde, city president Suhas S Poojary and former president of city municiaplity Yuvaraj K were present.

Poor girl may her soul rest in peace... May her soul get justice......🙏🙏🙏 How some of us can defend this heinous act? My goodness...!!! if such thing happen in our houses, will there be a same reaction? Her tongue was cut, her back was broken and oh god what not these monsters did in front of her mother...!! Still, we defend defend and defend up-to what extent? What's honour killing? Why it's allowed? If honour killing done by her relatives why relatives are not caught and punished? Why she was burried ? Why treating females as use and throw paper napkins? We will never wake up unless otherwise such things so not happen in our houses... It's really heart wrenching.... Dalits are not humans? Not same blood and flesh what others have??? Rajasthan/u.p./Mangaluru any where.... Why govt cant implement strict rules on rapes and murders and just leave the monsters free?

Here the question is why no such March or protest against rapes in Kerala or Rajasthan. Why no march against the killing of Preist (he was burnt live) in Rajasthan?
Why no value for the life of a man? Value only if the victim is a girl and that too from dalit community?
Where were these ppl when 3 ppl were lynched to death in Maharastra?
Yes why thses ppl wi protest? The ppl lynched were from Hindu community
No need to show any sympathy?

Prabhu think of the rape on innocent women regardless of related to us or not but it was a forceful rape on a women. Dont you think standing for justice is justified whether free bus, coffee and others listed by you. Why you people talk about all the time BJP or Congress than stand up for social justice. It is a shame on people like you pass comments which has hurtful towards rape victims. Again I dont support any political parties but I support the victim.

The rajasthan govt did not try to hide the rape like the UP govt did. What was the need for them to cremate the body without full autopsy? And then they say it's a conspiracy. The rape never happened. Would you be silent if this happened to your loved ones? This shows that the authorities were involved.

When the Rape itself is not proven why call it a rape. Primafacie it looks like murder. Let us wait for CBI report.

How will you prove the rape when the body has already been burnt destroying dna evidence. In a state like UP where there is no rule of law, the cbi will certainly act for the govt. My hope is that the victim's family stays alive!
