Udupi: Sthree Sangatan of Holy Family Church Celebrates Decennial Year

Udupi, Apr 20: The Sthree Sangatan of Holy Family church, Brahmavar celebrated the decennial year on Sunday April 18, with a thanks giving Holy Mass.
 
Brahmavar parish priest Fr Denis Saldanha and Mangalore diocesan spiritual director Fr Ronald Coutinho celebrated the Holy Mass, followed by a get-together held at Swarna Brahmavars auditorium. 

 
Brahmavar Stree Sangatan president Irene Lewis welcomed the gathering. Vice president Lily Almeida inaugurated the programme. 
 
Sangatan member Juliet sang a Konkani hit song of Konkan Kogul, the late Wilfy Rebimbus on the occasion. 
 
Dr Savitha Pereira, lecturer of St Aloysius College, Mangalore, Fr Ronald Coutinho, Fr Denis Saldanha, Leena Roche, president of Stree Sangatan of Mangalore diocese, Veronica Cornelio, president of Kemman Congress women’s wing were the chief guests for the occasion.
 
Fr Ronald Coutinho delivered a presentation on how to build a fruitful and a strong Sthree Sangatan and its importance to women. Referring to Mahatma Gandhi and Mother Theresa, he said, ‘we have to grab the opportunities in present world with unity of members as a team.’
 
Leena Roche gave an innovative talk on ‘Vovyo,’ a traditional singing during Rose in Mangalorean Christian weddings, which was lauded by all.
 
Dr Savitha Pereira spoke on Women’s Mission, referring verses from Holy Scriptures that empowered women to contribute for the betterment of society. 
 
Veronica Cornelio spoke on the importance of Stree Sangatan in improving the economic condition of parishioners. 
 
The prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions held on the occasion. More than 150 members and parishioners were present. The members of Stree Sangatan staged variety entertainment programmes.
