Mangalore: Kateel Car Festival in Progress – Traffic Diversions Ordered

Mangalore, Apr 20: The famous annual car festival of Kateel Goddess Durgaparameshwari Temple is in progress. The main celebrations will be held on Tuesday April 20 and Wednesday.
On Sunday, silver chariot of the temple was pulled. On Monday, artistes of Vaishnavi Natyalaya, Eshwaramangala, presented a programme of Bharatnatyam in Kateel on account of the car festival.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the following traffic diversions have been ordered by the district deputy commissioner, in view of heavy rush at this temple town.
Vehicles coming to Kateel from Mangalore and Bajpe have to move through Malligeyangadi Cross on Gidikere road and reach Kateel College Main Road. Vehicles bound for Mangalore from Kateel have to reach the road in front of Vijaya Bank through the Temple PU College ground and reach the Bajpe-Mangalore Road. Regular passenger buses can reach the bus stand and leave as usual. Vehicle parking on both sides of the road from the Temple Higher Primary School Ground in Kateel has been banned till Vijaya Bank.
These changes will be in force from 6 am on Tuesday to midnight on Wednesday April 21.
