PM Called Kerala Leaders Before accepting Tharoor Resignation

New Delhi, April 20 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh phoned Congress' Kerala unit chief Ramesh Chennithala and senior leader Oommen Chandy before accepting Shashi Tharoor's resignation as minister of state for external affairs, party sources here said.

"The prime minister had spoken to Chennithala and Chandy over the phone before accepting Tharoor's resignation. He telephoned them because Tharoor was elected to Lok Sabha from Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram constituency and he quit the minister's post following a controversy over Kerala IPL," a Congress leader told IANS.

Tharoor, who resigned Sunday, met Congress president Sonia Gandhi Tuesday along with a delegation of party MPs from Kerala over the implementation of the Right to Education Act, said a Congress MP.

Tharoor, whose 11-month tenure was stained by controversies because of his personal indiscretions, resigned after the prime minister and the core committee of the Congress found that his continuance could cause more embarrassment to the party.

The controversy began after IPL commissioner Lalit K. Modi said on his twitter account that Tharoor had asked him to suppress information about his lady friend, Dubai-based Sunanda Pushkar, getting a stake in the IPL Kochi franchise.

Man of such caliber is hard to find. lets accept it, he is intelligent, worked for the UN, has some reason to come into indian politics. I don't believe its only for money. I believe when he says "money doesn't motivate him". so whats the fus even if he gets some commission , which is obiviously not from common man's IT return, but from those wealthy business people ( dubai) who has much to convert from black to white.
He was doing so much work for the country as minister, did anyone look that. come on everybody need some motivation, appreciation. But we, media take only criticism.
what are we ?? are not corrupt as well? in those little ones...it return/ small bribes /within our relationship etc..etc..so who are we to judge?
Ok being a political figure he shouldn't be so...come on..don't be so hypocritic..new india, new methods are needed ..and Tharoor ( those who do not know him...pl find out from net) definitly its a pitty to lose a ministry just because of this Tainted IPL.Iindustrialists play league. Not worth ...

Ironically no MP or Party president of state unit came to the rescue of Mr Taroor including Mr U.Chandi, opposition party leader of Kerala State. All congress MPs and leaders of Cong including Kerala PCC have not supported Mr Taroor except a bit by Mrs Sonia and PM.

Taroors sudden elevation of minister and making of MP made them to feel jealous @ him.So all commerades of Cong waited for a chance to gun him down and IPL Kochi frnachise came as a source in disguise!!!!
