Mangalore: Terror Threat – Coast on High Alert

Mangalore, Apr 21: It is learnt that the intelligence agencies have sounded a warning that the terrorists are likely use the sea route to target the southern coast of the country. Accordingly, the vigil across the coast in Karnataka and Kerala states has been tightened.
The intelligence inputs have told the governments that the chances of the terrorists using the coast of Kasargod or Kannur districts in Kerala to sneak into the country are more. Accordingly, the Coast Guard, police, ports as well as fisheries departments, and the Coastal Security Force have started keeping a keen watch on the activities at the coast.
The warning issued by the intelligence additional director general of police of Kerala has said that the terrorists are likely to make an attempt by Wednesday evening, to gain entry into the states. As such, in addition to the fibre boats of the policemen that are already on patrol duty, boats from private companies have been hired, and the policemen have been provided with modern weapons to face any exigencies, it is learnt.
The security forces in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts have been kept in readiness and mega industries have been asked to beef up security. All the police stations on the coast have been kept on high alert.
