Udupi, Oct 13: People of Ankudru-Guddabettu in Moodubelle village have finally had their dreams of getting good road connectivity fulfilled after a long wait.
Guddabettu a place which was much neglected by the leaders finally caught their attention. Ankudru-Guddabettu road was last repaired around 13 years ago. Gradually the road dilapidated and the locals found it hard to undertake travel.
Daijiworld.com on February 18 this year published a piece of detailed news explaining the plight of the locals here. The report caught the eyes of the local politicians who took over the works of fixing the road in the area.
Guddabettu has more than 50 households with many elderly and sick people residing in the area. Local people had requested the authorities including the gram panchayat, the MLA and other officials to provide them with good road facility. The poor road connectivity along with disappointing street light facility during the night was becoming troublesome for the residents.
After understanding their ordeal, Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon assured the locals of providing a new concrete road. On Tuesday, October 13 Mendon inaugurated the newly constructed concrete road, which will serve as a major connecting point between Ankudru and Moodubelle. This road has been constructed at a cost of Rs 25 lac.
People of the area have also urged the MLA to provide them with good street light facility along with requesting him to extend the Ankudru road towards Pambur. A dam was also built a few years back in Ankudru, giving rise to a possibility of constructing a bridge here and thereby extending the road to create connectivity to the Pambur area.
Locals had also submitted many petitions and requests to authorities, officials for good roads. Following which a team of locals had also met the concerned ministers in Bengaluru. The people of Guddabettu-Ankudru area had even decided to boycott the gram panchayat elections if their demand were not fulfilled.
