Mangalore: Lyned Lasrado Bestowed Corporation Bank Gold medal

Mangalore, Apr 21: Lyned Dafny Lasrado has bagged the Corporation Bank Gold Medal for the Best Outgoing Post Graduate Student of St Aloysius College (Autonomous).
She was awarded the most coveted medal during the college annual day celebrations, recently. She was also awarded for securing first rank in M Sc (Biotechnology).
Lyned is gifted in academics. She has been a distinction holder through out her academic career. She is also the recipient of the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Science Talent Research Scholar Award in 2007.
During her under graduate and post graduate studies she engaged herself in research in the field of Biotechnology. Important studies conducted by her include ‘Effect of Perturbation on the Coherence and Stability of Metapopulation’ at Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore, ‘Biochemical Characterization of Pulses” at St Aloysius, and ‘Effect of Tinospora cordifolia in Inducing Pancreatic Regeneration in Rats with Streptozotocin Induced Diabetes at St Aloysius College.
Achievements in Academics
She was qualified for junior research fellowship [JRF (NET) CSIR] of the UGC. She is Qualified in GATE (Life Sciences), 2008. She had cleared the entrance exams for Doctoral Studies - Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, 2009 and National Institute of Immunology (NII), New Delhi, 2009. She has won the Rajiv Gandhi Science Talent Research Scholar Award in 2007
Currently, Lyned is pursuing her Doctoral Studies under CSIR Research Fellowship at Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore.
Lyned is the daughter of Felix Lasrado and Agnes Gomes of Valencia Parish, resident of Pumpwell, here and sister of Lloyd Lasrado. Felix is a senior manager at Souza Aluminium Industries, here. Agnes is a teacher at St Anne’s High School.
