London, Apr 22 (IANS): Hollywood star Brad Pitt missed a ceremony honouring his brother's charity work due to the cancellation of flights because of the Icelandic volcano eruption.
The "Mr and Mrs. Smith" star's younger sibling Doug, has been appointed goodwill ambassador to Tanzania in recognition of his humanitarian work in Africa, reports contactmusic.com.
The country's President, Jakaya Kikwete, threw a party for Doug in New York Monday but the actor was unable to attend as he was stranded in Europe following the closure of airspace across the continent.
More than 63,000 flights have been grounded because of the thick ash clouds, but limited services are now running.
