IPL betting racket busted by Delhi Police, 2 arrested


New Delhi, Oct 24 (IANS): The Delhi Police has busted an IPL betting racket in Greater Kailash-1 here and arrested two persons.

The accused, identified as Mohit Verma and Deepak Verma, used the ZOOM app on a LED TV, wherein the live rate of betting on the match that the other players were offering was being shown on the top right corner of the TV.

During the interrogation, the accused revealed they also used betting assistance WMC application on the laptop.

A raid was conducted on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday and two people were arrested for being involved in betting during the match between Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad. A laptop, LED TV, router and six mobile phones were seized from the place, the police said.

"During sustained interrogation, one of the accused admitted that he had taken the said premises, House No. 11, servant quarters on the second Floor, Hemkunt Colony, Greater Kailash-I, New Delhi, on rent for Rs 27,000 per month with his partner," said Atul Thakur, DCP South Delhi.

The accused also revealed that applications were being run through Internet with the help of a wireless router.
