Udupi: Retired Teacher Killed in Accident at Palimar

Udupi, Apr 29: A retired teacher, who was riding his scooter, was knocked down and killed by a jeep at Palimar near Padubidri on Wednesday April 28.

He has been identified as Karunakar Shetty (55), a retired teacher and resident of Moodu Palimar village. He was returning home from Adve in his scooter, and while turning his two-wheeler towards the road leading to his home, a jeep coming from the opposite direction hit him. Shetty sustained serious injuries to his face and head, and although he was taken to the nearest hospital in the same jeep, he lost his life before reaching the hospital.

Shetty, who had worked in several government schools, was very popular among the students and the general public. Padubidri policemen have registered a case against the jeep driver.

    It is really sad to know Mr.shetty's tragic end. It is our destiny not in our hand. Man proposes god disposes. I only pray god to take care of his family and dependents. Life has to move on. His soul remains in peace if his family withstand this shock and take care of themselves.
