Udupi, Apr 30:  The Education Appellate Tribunal of the district has ordered for the immediate reinstatement of history lecturer, Prof Emmanuel Lalit Kumar. Kumar, who worked in St Mary Syrian (SMS) College Brahmavar in the taluk, had been dismissed from service by the college management sometime back.

A release from the president of the Association of Mangalore University College Teachers (AMUCT), Joselyn Lobo, has informed that the Tribunal rejected the arguments of Orthodox Syrian Catholic Education Society, which manages SMS college, about the grounds on which the lecturer in question was dismissed from service.

It also termed the internal inquiry said to have been held by the college management against the lecturer, as an eyewash. The court found no substance whatsoever in the charges framed by the college management, the release explained.

The college has been instructed to pay salary, perquisites, allowances and other benefits to which the said lecturer is eligible, even during the period of his wrongful dismissal.
