Mangalore, Apr 30: Seemanth Kumar Singh, who arrived in the city on Thursday, took over charge as the commissioner of the recently-created city police commissionerate on Friday April 30 morning. He took over charge from inspector general of police (IGP), Gopal Hosur. Singh will be the first full-fledged commissioner of the commissionerate, as Gopal Hosur used to discharge duties in both the capacities of IGP and commissioner.

Singh, who was the superintendent of police of Bellary district till recently, was promoted to the deputy inspector general cadre and posted as the commissioner here. He is backed by the experience of having worked as the SP of Dakshina Kannada district for over three years in the past. He now has the challenge of building the commissionerate, which is still in its infancy.

It is nice to see the new police commissioner taking over from the equally capable IGP Shri Gopal Hosur, who we had the good fortune to host and listen to during his recent trip to Dubai. We were quite impressed with the conviction with which Shri Hosur spoke about his views of Mangalore and how generally the ordinary people or more specifically the 99.9% people are peaceful and how even the small portion of 0.1% people can disrupt the life for the remaining 99.9%!!!

So, it is the duty of the majority to be on their toes that they don't allow the small minuscule number of people from disturbing the peace loving populace... Well said, Shri Hosur and a warm welcome to Shri Seemanth Kumar Singh to Mangalore..

I join several people in extending a warm and cordial WELCOME to Mr. Seemanth Singh. Mr. Singh is not new to Mangalore. As the Superintendent of Police earlier he has given an excellent account of himself as an efficient and forthright officer. Even as a junior he has worked in Bhatkal under difficult conditions and ensured the law and order was maintained at all costs.

Unfortunately the situation in Mangalore is not what it was during Mr. Singh's tenure here as The S.P. I am sure Mr. Gopal Hasur is happy to him here as a strong adjutant.

Mr. Singh - may your tenure as The First Commissioner of Police in Mangalore be a fruitful one.

Karnataka Government has created Mangalore Commissionerate on 26.01.2010 without providing infrastructure, personnel and before upgrading the police stations coming within the jurisdiction of the Commissionarate to Inspector category. This is nothing but KUDUREYANNU GADIYA YEDURU KATTIDA HAGE.

Mr.Seemantha Kumar was Bellary District S.P.till recently. People of Karnataka and more so of Mangalore are aware that this officer has served the interest of Reddy Brothers than the Bellary District during his assignment in Bellary. Lets watch out.
