Udupi, Nov 1: Head teacher of a school in the district showed humanity and philanthropy of the highest order by gifting a house, on his retirement day, to the financially poor student, who was studying in his school.

Murali Kadekar, head teacher of Nittur high school in the district is the Good Samaritan, who has shown exemplary act of humanity. The house was handed over to student Nayana in the presence of Palimar Math seer Vidyadheesha Sree at Kakkunje on Saturday October 31.

Murali had worked as a teacher in Nittur school for the past 32 years and got promoted as head teacher five years ago.

Murali was moved by the plight of the financially poor student Nayana, belonging to the Koraga community and studying in ninth standard of the school and got a small house built for her family at a cost of Rs 3.5 lac.

"I have got a house built for Nayana, who was living in thatched house, with the intention that my retirement day should be special. I have always used a part of my earnings for the education of financially poor students. In future also I will continue my pro-society works," said an elated Murali.
