Kasargod, Nov 1: Police have arrested the prime accused in Bandiyod firing and murder attempt case. The officials have successfully seized four vehicles.
The accused is identified as Tikki Ammi alias Abdul Amir aged 30 years is resident of Uppala Kukkar near Bandiyod. Police have booked 11 people on murder charges in connection to three incidents.
On Saturday, Amir along with six others in a mini lorry hit a car coming from opposite side belonging to person identified as Shekali. Following which, the car lost control and hit a pole on side of the road. When people in the car came out brandishing weapons, Amir and his gang fired two gunshots at them.
When Shekali and his wife were on their way to file a complaint in the matter at the Kumble police station, Amir and his men attacked their car and attempted to murder them. Amir and his group of men also damaged the Maruti car parked at Shekali's home and fired gunshots.
The Kumble police in this case have filed three cases and named Moindeen Shabeer, Talangere Achhu, Sammad, Arikaddi Gundu Usman, Lateef, Joyi, Tyre Faizal as the accused in the matter.
Two years ago, Moideen Shabeer and Lateef had kidnapped an individual identified as Altaf, a resident of Uppala Sonkal. He was taken in a car to Karnataka and brutally killed.
Police disclosed that another accused had murdered a trader by the name Ramakrishna Kulal three and a half years back in Kayyar. Besides that there are other accused who have five or more cases filed against them.
The police team led by Kasargod DySP Balakrishnan Nayar have launched a manhunt to arrest the other accused men. The investigation is led by Kumble SI P Pramod, sub-inspector A Santosh Kumar and ASI Rajeevan.
