Kundapur, Nov 2: “The shifting of self-help tailoring training centre of the SLRM unit due to political enmity is not right. Byndoor MLA has misused power and thrown the women who were dreaming of self-support onto the streets,” alleged former MLA Congress leader, K Gopala Poojary.
He addressed the relay protests by Kundapur taluk panchayat raj okkoota and other organizations on Monday condemning the illegal shifting of the unit.
“The current MLA who was commending Vandse panchayat is alleging corruption in the panchayat administration now. The MLA has started attacking after former gram panchayat president and congress leader Uday Kumar Shetty refused to join BJP. Our protests against the MLA who threw 70 women onto the street will be uninterrupted,” he said.
The lock of the centre was broken all of a sudden at night and the sewing machines were shifted to the deserted building. Action should be taken against officials who acted against law on the orders of the MLA. It is tragic that the MLA who should have called the protesters for a talk, is remaining indifferent,” he said.
Youth Congress leader Vikas Hegde said that the constitution and democracy have died under the dictatorship of Sukumar Shetty. “He has made an irresponsible statement that only five women were running the training centre privately. SLRM is a government organization. The tailoring training centre was run as a part of it. Regardless of the number of women in it, they have their rights and duties. The MLA who has tried to snatch them, will face the consequences in the future,” he said.
Congress Prakashchandra Shetty Kambadakone, Santhosh Shetty Balady, Madan Kumar and others were present.
Congress Raju Poojary, district panchayat member, Gauri Devadiga, taluk panchayat member, Jagadish Devadiga, Byndoor youth Congress president, Shekar Poojary and others took part in the protests.
