Final electoral rolls in GHMC to be published on Nov 13

Hyderabad, Nov 9 (IANS): The final electoral rolls for the ensuing polls to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will be published on November 13.

As per the draft voter list released by the Telangana State Election Commission (TSEC), the total electorate in all 150 wards is 74,04,017. Of them, 38,56,617 are men, 35,46,731 are women and 669 are others.

The TSEC will announce the poll schedule after the final electoral rolls are released.

At a meeting held on Monday with GHMC Deputy Commissioners to review the arrangements for the ensuing polls, State Election Commissioner, C. Parthasarathi asked them to ensure that the photo electoral rolls to be published are free of any errors.

He directed them to make sure while preparing the final voter list that no voter is inconvenienced on the polling day.

The SEC said the list of polling stations will be released soon. The polling stations set up in the previous elections may continue to avoid any confusion.

The GHMC has published the ward-wise draft photo electoral rolls and has displayed the same for verification by the general public at various designated places, mainly at GHMC circle offices, ward offices, tahsildar offices and RDO offices, as per the jurisdiction of the wards.

The civic body has requested all the stake holders to verify their names in the draft electoral rolls. If they don't find their names in the list, they can file their claims in Form-6 to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of the Assembly constituency concerned.

As the term of the existing body of GHMC is going to expire on February 10, 2021, the government requested the TSEC to initiate action for conducting the polls.
