Chamba, Nov 11 (IANS): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Wednesday laid the foundation stones of different developmental projects entailing an expenditure of Rs 113 crore in Chamba district.
Addressing a public meeting at the historic Chowgan here, he said that the three-years tenure so far of the BJP government was full of achievements and all this was possible due to the active cooperation and support of the people.
He laid the foundation stones for upgradation of Sarol Masroond Pukhri and Meredi Silliagharat roads, at a cost of Rs 26.52 crore and Rs 13.68 crore respectively under PMGSY-II.
These roads would benefit over 45,000 residents in 11 panchayats of the area.
To decongest the town, he said vendor shops would be constructed in Mohalla Kasakar. He said a new parking complex would help park over 350 vehicles of town residents.
He directed the officers to ensure time-bound completion of all these projects.
Thakur said Chamba was a backward and far-flung district and the government had accorded top priority for its all-round development.
Even the Union government has given special status to Chamba district to ensure its rapid development.
Member of Parliament Kishan Kapoor said that the "double engine" of Centre and the state government had ensured balanced and equitable development of the state.
Area legislator Pawan Nayyar said that the laying the foundation stone of the car parking project had met with long-pending demand of the people.
