Karkala, May 8: After the driver of a tipper that was moving towards Shimoga from Mangalore, lost control over the vehicle at Nellikatte bend at Seetanadi village near Hebri on the night of Thursday May 7, the tipper dived into a deep gorge. The driver died on the spot.
Two others, who were travelling in the tipper, miraculously survived with minor injuries. The deceased has been identified as Sangappa (40), a native of Gadag. The vehicle suffered extensive damages. It is said that Sangappa was heavily drunk at the time.
A case has been registered in Hebri police station.
