Mangaluru, Nov 12: Speaking about the defeat faced by his party in both the assembly bypolls in Sira and Rarajeshwari Nagar constituencies, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president D K Shivakumar, said that in a democratic set up such things happen, and he has accepted the verdict of the people.

Shivakumar spoke to media on his way to the airport where district Congress led by former MLA Abhayachandra Jain is staging hunger strike at Kenjar on Thursday November 12 against the privatisation of Mangaluru International Airport.

However he said that the margin of defeat in both the constituencies has come as a surprise for himself and the party. "Educated voters have cast their votes in favour of our party. But the margin of defeat has given rise to doubts. We will undertake a detailed booth-wise study about the result. We will also meet experts and analyse the result," he added.

On the issue of the disappearance of former Bengaluru mayor and accused in the KG Halli rioting, Sampath Raj, he referred to a statement made by state BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel, that Sampath Raj has been kept in a hideout by Shivakumar. "What is Nalin? Is he the home minister? If I had hidden him, they could have arrested me. They have been planning to inflict all kinds of miseries on me, and I have information about these plans. Nalin Kumar will be in power as long as he is alive," Shivakumar said satirically.

“Congress tradition is nationalising while BJP's tradition is privatising. If BJP does not work for the sentiments of the people, for whom they will work? State Congress is always with the party representatives who are conducting series of protests over the privatisation of the airport," he said.

In the protest at Kenjar, district Congress also demanded to rename the airport to any well-known people of Tulunadu instead of Adani and also give job opportunities for locals at the airport.

District Youth Congress president Mithun Rai, district Mahila Congress president Shalet Pinto, former MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake and others were present.

DKShi says "Educated voters have cast their votes in favor of our party". Does he mean that people who have not voted for his party are Uneducated? It an utter insult to the voters who have used their wisdom to select the right candidate as their representative. He should immediately apologize for this sarcastic remark.

    People,

Honestly, ALL these CONgressmen and CONgrsswomen complusorily need at least 14 days fasting...so they loose their extra weight in their tummy and buttocks....and be healthy....

Please don't allow any of these folks to go home during the night....just give them 'Nimbu Pani' three times a day....till they shed their extra weight...

Trust me they will look much more healthy , trim and smart when they leave 'Satyagraha Pendal'...after 14 days of fasting...

During my Elementary School there was a lesson 'Mangagala Upavasa'....looking at these folks I remembered that...

    ...Tak...Takk...

In RR Nagar, Congress lost the election even before the voting when they announced Kusuma against strong candidate Muniratna (even if he is contesting independent). Muniratna helped very much to poor people, it's not a surprise unless Congress candidate is better than him. The blame should go to DKS, Siddaramiah for poor candidate selection.

First of all Managlore Airport is not renamed to any airport. It's still Mangalore international Airport and IATA code is IXE.

Adani Airport is name of the firm in Adani Group that manages Air Port business. These guys trying to fool public by misguiding nuts and bolts just like the way they did during CAA spreading rumors that Muslims without papers will have to leave. That's why their party Is at this state in the country, NA ghar ka, na ghaatka

I am a regular traveller from this airport , and yes, I welcome privatization. In fact this move has been welcomed by a majority of people irrespective of party affiliation. It was also due to a large public demand when Mluru airport went international. Sorry to say, Your protest does not hold any ground. Just by sitting with placards and shouting hunger strike ,nothing is going to happen. These gimmics wont get you any support and votes, just forget it. At night fall, all you have to go home. Thats it. For gods sake please do not bring or drag children for protests. Dont sow hatred in their innocent minds.
I saw it few days back and felt very sad.

Citizens of Karnataka state, are not morons... they understand the ground realities, contemplate and then only decide to vote for the BJP party... The voters realized that both INC and JDS are opportunist outfits...They lust and thirst to grab power, both were courting radicals organizations, to influence minority votes !!! The recent " Communal, Death Dance " organised by ex Congress mayor, Sampath Raj, who is absconding in order to avoid being booked under UAPA, in the IT capital.. DKS knew the outcome of the polls, he is now just trying to buy an alibi, for his party defeat in the recently concluded election.....

first stop this kind of cheap politics. still you people are using same logic which was already rejected by the people. blaming Modi/RSS.... & supporting tukde gang wont help your party. when you people are not able to support your own MLA in DJ/KJ halli violence then what about common people. try to understand your mistakes & try to rectify it so that in future party can comeback.

Hunger strike? Seriously? Why?? and What purpose does this strike serve? How will an airport being run by Adani or Ambani affect the common people of DK????? More than 90% of DK do not use the airport. Even if they use, it does not even bother the travellers on who manages the airport . You pay the fare and you travel, thats it.

I think its high time this 'guru -chela ' duo is asked to retire or exit gracefully. They cannot deliver and wont be accepted by people. The current Cong leadership is not a winning material. Rather than being sorry and frustrated later. Its high time the supporters request these guys to voluntarily retire and make way for new ,dynamic, and non controversial youngsters. At least the suspense factor would work for the team. If not its the same xhit once again, blaming EVM or accepting in humility the defeat, we wait for 5 more year and field the same leaders again.

NM , Sorry ,, There are many other more capable and more popular candidates really hard workers for the party . But they are side lined and not in the limelight because they are not chelas of the likes of DKS or Siddu. So what do they do then ? , shift loyalties for greener pastures and hop to parties like SDPI, DFI, JDS or even BJPM morcha. When they voice their concern , the party chelas ban then by calling them 'not a true christian' or 'not a true muslim'.

Who said that educated vote congress, if it is the case why is BJP winning in most places where literacy is high .... Congress needs total revamp of the party, should come out of orthodox way of functioning .....
Bashing Modi and BJP-RSS is not at all working for them, even after repeated backfires all over, Congress is adamant to learn a lesson ..... Poor show in Bihar, MP, Gujarat, Telangana, UP, Karnataka everywhere in the recently held elections pushing Congress into a very bad phase, before it is too late, there needs an introspection workshop within the party .....
