It's Battle Royale for 3 Nisha's in Kerala village

Kottayam (Kerala) Nov 13 (IANS): Kerala over the years has seen numerous nail-biting poll battles, but perhaps this one's for the first time that is taking shape at this nondescript village near the 12th ward -- Kadaladimattom of the Poonjar Thekkekara Grama Panchayath.

The voters are having a tough time as all the three candidates from the three principal political parties have the same name -- Nisha.

This time this ward has turned out to be the one reserved for women.

While the CPI-M has fielded Nisha Sanu, a science teacher by profession.

The Congress has put up Computer teacher Nisha Shaji.

As the BJP has brought in homemaker Nisha Sajimon.

Leaving the village voters in a fix.

All three candidates out on streets soliciting votes -- the stock statement is -- reminding their voters only to concentrate on the party symbol and strike their button on the voting machine.

For the past several years this ward has been the stronghold of the CPI-M as its present sitting member whose term expired on Wednesday -- Snehadhanan said that at the 2015 local body polls he won with a margin of 237, out of the total 900 votes polled.

"This time the total electorate stands at 1,200 and our biggest advantage is we have been winning here for the past many years," said Senhadhanan.

Kottayam district goes to the polls on December 10.
