Mumbai, May 9 (IANS) Bollywood producer-director Prakash Jha will travel across seven cities in the country along with the cast of his new film "Raajneeti" to hold discussions with college and university students on political and democratic responsibilities.
The "Raajneeti" team will travel to Bangalore, New Delhi, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore and Ahmedabad.
"The young generation of our country, which is getting motivated towards politics, we want to speak with them. I am going to colleges and campuses to make people more aware of their political or democratic responsibility," Jha told reporters at a press meet here Saturday.
The director, who himself had fought and lost election to the Lok Sabha from his native Champaran, in Bihar, in 2004, said people should hold a positive vision towards politics and there should be proper coaching for this profession.
"People should have a positive vision towards politics because until educated people take responsibility of the country in their hands, you have seen what has happened to politics of your country till now. There should be proper education, professional training on politics," Jha said.
The story of "Raajneeti" is an incisive look to Indian electoral politics where a handful of people control the destiny of millions. It shows how people who understand power fight a bitter and violent battle to achieve their unstoppable ambition and wield it at will.
One being asked if he was trying to convey a strong message on Indian politics through his film, Jha said: "My film is not talking directly about political or democratic responsibilities. You can draw a lot of things from this story, or you can just be entertained from this story. I am not intending it to be a very serious kind of preaching. I am making a film, which will have drama or everything to entertain or engage people. Through this film I am not trying to teach anything."
Actors Ajay Devgn, Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpayee, Katrina Kaif, Sarah Thompson, Naseeruddin Shah and Nana Patekar make up the ensemble cast of "Raajneeti".
