5 charred to death in car in Punjab


Chandigarh, Nov 17 (IANS): Five occupants of a car, including a doctor, were charred to death when the vehicle they were travelling in caught fire after collision with a diesel tanker in Punjab, police said on Tuesday.

"After the collision, the fuel spilled over and the car caught fire. The occupants did not get time to come out as the doors got locked," a police official told the media.

They were returning to Moga town after attending a wedding reception. The accident occurred on the Sangrur-Sunam road on Monday midnight.

The bodies have been kept at the Civil Hospital in Sangrur town for postmortem.
