Mangaluru, Nov 19: The newly constructed 100 bed-home for mentally challenged people will on November 21 be inaugurated and blessed.
The project was taken up to mark the 120 years of its service to the poor. Bishop of Mangaluru, Dr Peter Paul Saldanha will inaugurate and bless the home.
The new building is named after ‘Our Lady of Miracles(Milagres) Home’ as the origin of the ashram took place at Milagres Church on June 12, 1898. It is a hundred-bed home intended to accommodate 50 men and 50 women.
The invited chief guests are Nalin Kumar Kateel MP of Mangaluru; Vedhavyas Kamath MLA of Mangaluru south; U T Kader MLA of Mangaluru; Joylus D’Souza, chairman of Christian Development Fund, Government of Karnataka; J R Lobo former MLA of Magaluru south; Ivan D’Souza former MLC. The guests of honour are Jacintha Alfred former mayor and local corporator; Somshekar assistant director from the department of Tourism, DK; Bharath S, the local corporator.
