Mangaluru, Nov 21: To commemorate the sesquicentennial celebration of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation in India, St Agnes CBSE School faculty celebrated the day on November 17 with great enthusiasm.
The programme began by rendering gratitude for the abundance of God's blessings showered on the Apostolic Congregation in all these 150 years. The prayer service conducted by Sr Sweedal Fernandes AC illustrated the physical values of the lighthouse and compared it to the Apostolic Carmel Congregation which has been a beacon of light for the past 150 years. A candle symbolising the existence of the establishment of the Apostolic congregation in India was lit so that many may receive the light of knowledge. To continue to spread this light of knowledge to the young generation a bookmark was handed over to the staff. The superior and the joint secretary of St Agnes Institutions, Sr Dr Lydia Fernandes AC was the chief guest. The principal, Sr Maria Gracilda AC welcomed the gathering.
Sr Maria Gracilda AC organised a singing competition for the faculty wherein four groups were formed representing the values of trust, obedience, courage and humility. The staff members composed songs on Venerable Mother Veronica and depicted her life in the form of a tableau. Sr Maria Clera Rodrigues AC and Sr Christina Delphine Das AC were the judges of the singing competition. The winners of the staff quiz and singing competitions were honoured by the chief guest. Later, Sr Dr Lydia Fernandes AC in her message urged the gathering to follow the footsteps of Venerable Mother Veronica, to imbibe her spirit and experience Gods's life to live our life according to His charism. She later congratulated and appreciated the principal and the staff for their hard efforts and their enthusiasm in conducting various

The setting of the stage was creatively done depicting the lighthouse on the shore comparing it to Venerable Mother Veronica that stands tall and strong in a strategic position and sends out a powerful beam of light of knowledge and wisdom. The stage floor was decorated with flowers signifying the successful completion of the Sesquicentennial Jubilee celebration. It was indeed a festive day for the faculty of St Agnes CBSE School.
