Riyadh, May 18: ‘Aangan Konkneche Riyadh’ organized the preliminary round of the Gulf Voice of Mangalore 2(GVM 2) on Friday May 14 together with Konknecho Dees 2010. It was a day to remember for the Konkani speaking community of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Morning session of GVM 2 was inaugurated by the great musician, composer and judges of the event Lancy H. Moras, Bendoor, Royston Prabhu Bejai, Alice Saldanha, Kinnigoli and the entire team of Aangan Konkneche Riyadh by lighting the lamp.
The programme began with a devotional dance to the tune of “Namo Namo….” by Eden D’Sa and Aldrina Sequeira.
The president of Aangan Konkneche Riyadh Arun D’ Souza Palimar addressed the gathering by highlighting the objectives and goals of Gulf Voice of Mangalore and Aangan Konkneche. He remembered his guru late Chapra D’ Costa for the inspiration and making his dreams come true, through Aangan Konkneche. Eric D’Sa Pangla spoke on ‘How can we love Konkani’.
For a minute tribute was paid to the legendary Konkan Kogul late Wilfy Rebimbus. After the Preliminary rounds of GVM2, the winners were announced by Lancy H Moras Bendoor/ Jeddah. Six male and female singers entered the semi-finals.
All the GVM 2 winners were felicitated by the main sponsor Anil Flossy Albuquerque couple. Arun D’ Souza Palimar, president of Aangan Konkneche felicitated the judges.
Manoj Mascarenhas Urwa and Jyothi Renita won the best singer award. Wilfred D’ Souza Kulshekar/Jeddah came second, while Eric D’ Sa Pangla and Arun D’Souza Palimar jointly came third. In female category, Gretta D’Costa, was second and Anitha D’ Sa Pangla came third.
Afternoon session of Nach- Gayan-Natkulyancho Mel: Konknecho Dees 2010 started with the dance from the budding dancers Elita D’Sa, Aldrin Sequeira, Reena D’Souza and Marvel D’ Souza to the melodious song by Miss Eden D’Sa.
Michelle Mascarenhas, Ashlyn Rodrigues and Andria Saldanha impressed the audience by their dances. Dandia Dance “Dinia Doni Mar” was performed by Jessy D’ Souza, Anita D’Sa, Janet D’ Souza and Eden D’Sa.
Aldrin Sequeira and Marvel D’ Souza enthralled the audience with their melodious songs. A devotional Kannada song was sung by Kamala Fernandes.
Duet songs were sung by Arun Janet, Manoj Rekha, Eric Eden, Wilfred Anita, Eric Anita, Marcel Vincent, respectively. Awaited skit ‘Mai Soon’ by Janet D’Souza Shirva, Ida D’ Souza Malpe and Vincent D’ Souza Mudarangadi was awsome.
Skit ‘Padri’ was performed by Ida couple and Roland D’ Souza, Malpe.
Three Gurkars entered to give Bolaiki for different occasions. First was Boniface Manipal, second Roshan Lobo Bondel and Stany Cardoza Paladka.
The skit ‘Bukello Bhikari’ was marvelous with great acting by Roshan Lobo, Bondel, Herry D’Souza Mudarangadi and Eden D’Sa Pangla.
Savitha D’ Souza felicitated all the sponsors. Jessy D’ Souza Mangalore felicitated all the winners and participants by giving away certificates and mementoes.
The chief guest of the day, Wilfred D’Souza Kulsheker/Jeddah and his devotional CD “Somya Makha Bokshi” was released by Arun D’Souza Palimar, the president of Aangan Konkneche Riyadh.
Ambrose D’ Mello delivered the vote of thanks.
Finally melodious songs were sung by Lancy Moras and Wilfred D’ Souza.
