We believe in inclusive Hindutva, says KPCC chief D K Shivakumar

Bengaluru, Dec 1 (IANS): Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president, D.K. Shivakumar on Monday said that the Congress "firmly believes in Hindutva ideology practiced and propagated by Mahatma Gandhi and Swami Vivekananda".

Speaking to reporters here after the party senior leaders' meeting here, Shivakumar said that they (Mahatma Gandhi and Swami Vivekanada) propagated inclusive Hindutva, while the BJP follows divisive Hindutva.

"Hindu and Hinduism are no one's property. These are India's ethos and belongs to everyone," he said while responding to questions on the BJP's proposed stringent law on banning interfaith marriages also termed as 'Love Jihad'.

He asserted that "protecting the constitution is our commitment and our stand".

Besides, he said: "We are planning to make Congress a cadre based party, hence, we plan to form booth and panchayat level committees during the upcoming gram panchayat elections itself."

The Karnataka State Election Commission on Monday announced polls to 5,762 gram panchayats in the state in two phases on December 22 and 27, and the model code of conduct has come into immediate effect.

Hailing the announcement of the polls, the KPCC president said that nine teams will be formed and all our leaders would be part of these teams in a strong bid to win majority of GPs in next month's elections.

Swami Vivekananda and Mahatma Gandhi talked about universal brotherhood and equality. What is your definition of inclusive Hindutva? Your party had always favoured one community at the expense of the other. Your discriminatory policies resulted in the creation of vote banks. And now you cannot survive without it.

Inclusive Hindutva or Divisive Hindutva. Minority Apeasment or Majority Appeasment. Secularism is enschrined in the Constitution and embraced by all Indians for centuries.

Remove EVM's and reintroduce Ballot Papers and True Democracy will once again flourish in our great Country.

The INC is in a quandary.. they are caught in a " Catch 22 " situation !! They have lost the confidence of the majority community.. their life guard, the vote banks of the minority community, has definitely been eroded due to the arrival of organizations, who propagate and practice radical religious beliefs....

Hindutva is a Singh parivar favourite word...Ultimately Congress is now compelled to utter the word because it is understood that to regain lost identity of 130 year old party has no other alternative in a Hindu majority country. But unfortunately now it is too late...

Congress is confusing its supporters in Ktaka. In Maharashtra Cong alliance is with Shiva Sena . In Kerala its with Muslim League . Owaisi has a different opinion and told openly on NDTV that 'Congress leaders are politically impotent' and now DKS says something else.

Whatever Congress trying to accommodate, BJP counter it successfully. Congress need to stick their original secular ideologies and while answering press need to aggressively propogate it.
Some time this and some time that will not work and people loose confidence.

The Gandhi parivar, played every caste, regional and religious card, to win elections for more then six decades !! The Hard Hindutva ideology from the BJP, has isolated and marooned the grand old Congress party....

What ever you believe or perform , at the end you will have to reach out to JDS to form the Govt on their conditions. Many Congressis have learnt this lesson and wont buy this xhit from you. Please note unless there is a face lift, its very tough to float in Ktaka politics , revival and winning is far far away now. These ploys of daily press conferences , statements, futile protests, temple runs, appeasement is all outdated. Kuch Naya bol yaar!

Sir.. Why inclusive or exclusive Hinduthwa?? First you come to know secularism is not minority appeasement. On the name of secularism you didn't strengthen the minorities or majority. Show the real concern over all which is needed presently.

Mahatma Gandhi was truly secular unlike present day politicians like DKS. He opposed partition of the country on the basis of religion. After partition he even favoured return of minorities from Pakistan for being discriminated on grounds of religion. Unfortunately today’s Congress is opposed to his views.
