We never mentioned we would vaccinate entire population: Health ministry

New Delhi, Dec 1 (IANS): In the wake of reporting of two adverse events which occurred with the volunteers during the vaccine trial, the fear and hesitation among the people to take the vaccine is growing. However, the union health ministry on Tuesday said that the government doesn't intend to immunise each individual with the Covid-19 vaccine.

"There is an inherent issue of vaccine hesitancy which may have nothing to do with adverse events. A section of population thinks that it does not require vaccination," stated Rajesh Bhushan, union health secretary during a press briefing.

Prof Balram Bhargava, Director General (DG) of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) also said that the government aims to break the chain of the virus first by vaccinating a critical mass of the population. "Our purpose is to break the chain of the virus. If we are able to vaccinate a critical mass of people and break virus transmission then we may not have to vaccinate the entire population," he added.

However he also added that the efficacy of the vaccine is an issue leading to hesitancy among the people to undergo the vaccination since it may remain 60% effective in some individuals while it may reach 70% efficacy in others.

However, Bhushan stated that it is the responsibility of the Union and the state government to allay fears among the people regarding the vaccine. "It is the states and union government's responsibility to educate the people about the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine while countering the disinformation," he said.

The union health secretary also informed that the government is preparing detailed guidelines regarding vaccine administration which may come within the next two weeks. "One of the issues mentioned in the guidelines deals with the aspect of vaccine safety. Our aim is to tell people what would be the effect and benefit of taking a vaccine to a person and at large," Bhushan said.

Meanwhile, Bhargava stressed upon the importance of masks, stating that it is vitally important now and will continue to be even after the vaccination. "Since we would be starting the vaccination with a small population, the use of masks has to be continued as it is effective in breaking the chain of the virus," he explained.

He is absolutely right. The vaccination is certainly not for the entire population. It is only for Bihar as per the recent Bihar election promise of free vaccination.

1.Vaccines help in producing antibodies against infection.
2.Those who have antibodies against Covid (determined by antibody test) need not go for vaccination as they already have antibodies.By the time vaccine is available for general use most of us will already have antibodies.A recent survey around Cuffe Parade Mumbai found 3 out of 4 people already had antibodies. As the virus is new we do not know how long the antibodies will last, after infection or after vaccination.
3.Any medication for a disease cannot be compulsory. It is against medical ethics.People should be given in writing the effects and possible adverse effects of the vaccine, and those who want can go ahead. The case of a Chennai volunteer is well known. Some unproven medicines can cause serious side effects even in the next generation (remember Thalidomide). So opt out for the proven and timetested.Vaccination has to be done by qualified doctors or nurses if it is in injectable form.
    4. The source of the vaccine should be mentioned in the informed consent form.(One of them is manufactured from the stools of Chimpanzee!). People should opt for a vaccine manufactured from attenuated Corona virus ,which is more logical and the concept more timetested. In the remote possibility of the attenuation not perfect, the person may at the most get mild symptoms of Corona.
5.Immunoglobulins are the safest , cheapest and most time tested. Will be available soon.Kamada pharma and Regeneron have already produced it.I was among the first to have suggested this idea( though the concept is old) in February 2020,and I have a letter from the President of France thanking and appreciating my efforts, and acknowledgements from many around the world.I am a low profile person and I do not intend to publicize it, I hope what I have mentioned here is of some help and even lay people will understand what I have written.

In our community there is a saying which roughly translates to:

"Grand ideas of (and all credits due to) the firstborn son, but money (for the grand ideas) is from the younger brother".

The current Grand Ideas are from the Centre.

All money has to be spent by the state governments.

Sir, there is no chain to break or to delink!
Every viral epidemic has 2 year potency to recede with starting period more mortalities & then it would lose its potency of deadliness & use us as hosts without killing the host so that it can survive too.
When vaccines get introduced at the later stage(at the end of 2nd year) & claim due to our effort epidemic is stopped, all over the world all the research reports point to this based on the data & graphs proving the above.
An important data of mortality chance hasn't been made public is here=
    0 to 19 years- 0.0003%
    20 to 49 years 0.0002%
    50 to 69 years 0.005%
    70+ years 0.054%
Now can we call this epidemic or pandemic? Does this qualify to be a Pandemic in first place?
Are we misled by WHO & CDC to shutdown & ruin our economy for this?
Today Dr Fauci claims the virus doesn't affect children or students & the schools can be reopened as they never get infected or pass on the infection to others.
Another recent report based on study which claims around 16 to 18% more infections of corona in those who used masks compared to those who didn't.
Sir stop the misinformation based on unscientific studies & reports which vaccine industry sponsored & stop vaccinations themselves which will be useless as viruses are known to mutate & adverse reactions of vaccines are far more dangerous than the infection itself in almost all vaccines till today.

Govt said publicly vaccination for all those who vote them and free of cost. There was no condition mentioned by the govt for priority for critical mass of population nor to break the chain of virus but only condition was to vote them irrespective of religion, marriage, citizenship and food habits whereby everything is forgiven and absolved even if non BJP voters die belonging to any religion.
