Kundapur, Dec 5: As per the promise given by state transport minister Laxman Savadi to artist Prashanth Achar of Bagwadi near here, a scrap KSRTC bus has arrived at the Bagwadi government higher primary school on Thursday, December 3.

If the classes for students begin after the coronavirus pandemic is over, then Prashanth’s dream will turn into reality.

Prashanth is a big fan of KSRTC buses. He has made mini models of KSRTC and Airavat buses using foam sheets. This was reported in the media. The minister, who read the report about Prashanth, had called him to Bengaluru and honoured him. During that occasion, Prashanth had requested the minister to provide an old KSRTC bus to start classes for kindergarten students.

The minister, who responded to the request of Prashanth, has sent an old bus to the school. Now Prashanth and his brother Prakash Achar are making preparations to convert the interior of the bus to a smart class. The duo have made this idea in order to attract more students to this school which has a history of 96 years and has 85 students presently studying in the school.

The transport minister, who has lauded the idea of Achar brothers, has informed them that if the project becomes successful then the same will be implemented at other government schools also.

Achar brothers are planning to convert the bus in such a manner that the students from kindergarten to grade seven can attend classes in audio-visual medium for one hour every day.

Headmistress Shailaja and other colleagues have expressed their happiness on the innovative idea of Achar brothers.

Solar panels will be installed on the bus to run the fans and lights. Old seats will be removed and new seats, which will be convenient for students to sit, will be fixed. Projector and screen will be used to teach students lessons using audio-visual medium. There is also the idea of setting up a small laboratory on the back side of the bus. On the whole the bus should be child-friendly, said Achar brothers.
