Mangaluru: Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy to present honorary awards on Dec 10

Mangaluru, Dec 7: The honorary award for the year 2018, 2019 and 2020 of Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy will be presented on December 10 at Bengaluru, informed Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy president Rahim Uchil.

Addressing the media here on Monday December 7, Rahim informed that the event will be inaugurated by deputy chief minister Govind Karjola, while district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, C T Ravi, president Karnataka development authority T S Nagabharana and others will be taking part in the event.

“Basheer Ahmed Kinya (Beary literature), Veena Mangaluru (Beary cinema, drama and art) and Siddique Manjeshwara (Beary organisation and social service) will be conferred the 'Gaurava Prasasthi'. Dr Ismail (medicine), T A Mohammed Asif (education), Iliyas Mangaluru (social service), Rash Byari (Beary organisation) and Safwan Shah Bahrain (Beary young achiever) will be conferred the 'Gaurava Puraskara' for the year 2020.

“Abdul Rehman Kutthethur (Beary literature), Ismail Tannirbhavi (Beary art) and M Ahmed Bava Mohiudeen (Beary organisation and social service) will be conferred with 'Gaurava Prashasti', while Abdul Razaq Ananthady (Beary education), T S Hussain (Beary literature), Abdul Majeed Suralpady (general), Asif Karnad (social service) and Ali Kunjhi Paare (Beary organisation) will be conferred with 'Gaurava Puraskara' for the year 2019.

“Khalid Tannirbhavi (Beary Art), Zaleka Mumtaz (Beary literature), Noor Mohammed (Beary folklore) will be conferred with 'Gaurava Prashasti', while B M Umarabba (social service) and V Mohammed (lifesaving) will be conferred with Gaurava Puraskar,” he said.

The 'Gaurava Prashasti' consists of Rs 50,000 cash prize, shawl, garland and citation, while the 'Gaurava Puraskara' carries Rs 10,000 cash prize, shawl, garland and citation.

"Even though the winners of the year 2018 were announced, the awards were not presented. Hence, along with 2019 and 2020 awardees, awards will also be presented to the 2018 awardees. Once the coronavirus situation gets better, we will discuss the dates with the chief minister and hold the award programme," said Rahim Uchil.

“During the event, Padma Shri Harekala Hajabba will be felicitated,” he said.

Beary Academy registrar Poornima and member Shamsheer Budoli were also present.
