Kaup, Dec 8: A decomposed mortal remains of a woman was found from inside a flat in a residential complex in the town on Monday December 7. The body was identified to be Vidya Saraswati (47), a native of Puttur.

After noticing that foul odour was emanating from their neighbouring flat at the City Centre residential complex here, those living in the next flat had called the police. The police broke open the door of the flat and found the decomposed body of a woman was lying in its back on a cot inside the bedroom.

Newspapers for the last eight days were found outside the door of the flat. It is therefore suspected that she would have died a week back.

The lady was working as lecturer at Mangaluru. She was divorced from her husband, who was a native of Hiriadka, 15 years ago. The woman was living alone in the flat for past some years.
As she was not mingling with others in the complex freely, no one noticed her absence. She would have died of heart attack or some other cause.

On the basis of a report filed by the brother of the deceased, a case of unnatural death was registered in Kaup police station.

Staying alone without any siblings/company is also known to be the most common reason for heart attacks. This could be a common reason in her case. Mingling with one another is a tonic to curb such a situation.
