Beltangady, May 27: Exponent of Yoga system of healthcare, Swami Ramdev of Patanjali Yogapeetha with headquarters in Uttarakhand, exhorted people to join his ‘Bharat Andolan’ programme aimed at ridding the country of the menace of corruption. He was speaking after dedicating the newly built Rajatadri Guest House at Dharmasthala to the society on Wednesday May 26.

He explained that his ‘Bharat Andolan’ movement aims at purifying political system, administration system and laws of the country. He felt that education, health and the administration system should first be cleansed of corruptive practices, besides the judicial system, to drive away criminal activities. He expressed himself in favour of free and equal education to all, and a uniform law for everyone, saying that the laws made by the British rulers to crush the fighters who revolted against them in the past, are redundant now. He also asked people to banish the name, ‘India’ given to Bharat by the British, pointing out that none of the other countries in the world have no two names.

He said circulation of higher denominations of currency notes supports corruption and gives rise to black money. He claimed that countries like Canada and England do not have currency notes of bigger denominations. He appreciated Dr Heggade’s system of temple administration for continuing to command trust of the people. He argued in favour of freeing temples from government control. He exhorted people to work single-mindedly to make the country No. 1 in the world in power, commerce, education and health sectors.

State home minister, Dr V S Achrya, speaking after releasing a CD titled, ‘Sri Dharmasthala Kshetra Mahatme’, said that the Chief Minister has plans to extend Yoga education to all the schools in the country, and that 2,500 teachers have already been given training in Yoga. Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari, Dr D Veerendra Heggade, in his presidential address, lamented that the disciples of the modern times do not have the same respect and faith on their teachers like their ancestors. He wished that the disciples of Baba Ramdev will work to cleanse the country and its administration of all evils.

Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, Krishna J Palemar, MLA, Vasant Bangera, Anand Sankeshwar of VRL Logistics, Patanjali Yoga Sangha state president, Pradip G and several others were present.

D Harshendra Kumar welcomed. Journalist, Navujire, presented the programme. Harish Pai proposed vote of thanks. Those who worked for the construction were honoured.

Earlier in the day, Baba Ramdev was given a rousing reception when he arrived at Mangalore airport for taking part in various programmes in the district on Wednesday. Dr Jnaneshwar Nayak, district president of Bharat Swabhiman and Patanjali Yoga Samiti, honorary president, P P Hegde, Rashekhar Balal, Harish Pai etc., were present.
