Bantwal, Dec 13: Villagers of Sajipamunnur in the taluk have decided to boycott the upcoming gram panchayat elections.

The villagers on Saturday December 12 put up a banner declaring that they are boycotting the elections in protest against the apathy of the local politicians with regard to development works.

The banner has been displayed near the historical Nandavara temple by the villagers of Aramane Hitlu.

The writing on the banner says, "The public of Nandavara Aramanehitlu of Sajipamunnur villagers unitedly boycott the gram panchayat elections that are going to be held in 2020-21.

"We are boycotting the gram panchayat elections as the road that connects Aramanehitlu from Nandavar has not been constructed due to the irresponsibility of local politicians, though the government has released the grant for the same."

The banner also carries a note at the bottom warning that politically-motivated visit by any person from any party will not be allowed.
