Udupi, Dec 18: Kaup police station personnel have arrested Abdul Sattar (38), resident of Mallar on charges of breaking open the house of Parveen Babu at Kote, Mallar village on 10 am July 24, 2012, and 2 pm on December 25, 2012, when the residents of the house were away.

The accused had entered the house from the back door with the use of a strong tool. With the key that he had found in the bedroom, Abdul had opened the cabinet and decamped with jewellery worth Rs 2 lac. He then went to another bedroom in the house and stole a stove, vessels and the lock of a door, worth Rs 50,000. A case under serial number 105/2012 under IPC Sections 454, 457 and 380 was registered in Kaup police station in this connection. The then investigating officer had deemed the case unsolvable and prepared a C report and submitted in the court.

Following definite information about the accused that was obtained recently. The police arrested Abdul Sattar and interrogated him. In the course of the interrogation, Sattar confessed to stealing all those items with the help of Abdul Rehman Fakhruddin alias Rahim (49) resident of Kuthyar village and two other men. Following which, the police arrested Abdul Rehman Fakhruddin and recovered a gold necklace and gold bangles worth Rs 1.92 lac from his possession.

The operation was conducted by Kaup police circle inspector Prakash under direction and guidance from his senior police officials, Kaup station crime division PSI Yunus Guddekar, Achyuth and Nagaraj from the office of the district police and crime detection team members Pravin Kumar, Narayana, Rajesh, Nandesh and Ananda.
