Mysuru: Defeat in Chamundeshwari - Siddaramaiah blames own partymen

Daijiworld Media Network - Mysuru (SP)

Mysuru, Dec 19: "Knowing fully well that I would have become the chief minister of Karnataka again if I had won from Chamundeshwari constituency here, the leaders of my own party conspired to defeat me," claimed former chief minister and leader of the opposition in the assembly, Siddaramaiah. His remarks have given rise to turmoil within the political circles.

He was speaking at the 'Grama Janadhikara Samavesha' in relation to the gram panchayat election held in Chamundeshwari constituency on Friday December 18. "Some of the party activists did not like the idea of me becoming the chief minister. Therefore they joined hands with the JD(S) and the BJP to defeat me," he explained.

Siddaramaiah stated that this constituency had given him political rebirth but at the same time, it also created too much political agony in him. He said he never imagined that he would have faced such an utter defeat in this constituency during the previous election.

Siddaramaiah had kept himself away from Chamundeshwari constituency, his home turf, after his defeat. Campaigning for the party for the upcoming gram panchayat election, he called upon those who committed treachery with the party to introspect and leave the party. No one should work against their own parties for silly reasons, he opined.

He said that but for the fact that he scraped through in Badami constituency, his political future would have been very bleak. "I do not know whether I will fight another election. But I find it hard to take my defeat in this constituency in my stride," he explained. When one of the activists asked him to fight again from Chamundeshwari constituency, Siddaramaiah told him that he could be backstabbed again.

Responding to the remarks, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president D K Shivakumar, commented that Siddaramaiah should have named the persons who betrayed him in the election. He said that for generalised statements he cannot comment. He confirmed that he wanted Siddaramaiah to become the chief minister again.

Don't fill news paper with unproductive news. Kindly take retirement and do some social work. I don't think anyone in this forum is interested to read the past of your election results. IT's same with JDS. calling press conference, making nonsense comments. It's nothing but filling social media with unproductive comments Siddanna. Take rest please.
    Jai Hind.

The day any leader losses from his own home constituency its a clear sign that the individual should quit politics. Unfortunately some hang on to spread the defeat culture and erode their party further.

Very true what Siddaramaiah said. The downfall of the Congress was because of the crab culture of one pulling down the other. Now the 23 have colluded with the BJP to work for Congress Mukth Bharath. All the 23 have enjoyed power and wealth beyond measure and are only working against the party. All said and done despite his rash behaviour Mr Siddaramaiah was one the most progressive CMs of Karnataka after Devaraj Urs in developmental works and Governments' financial discipline.

Read the writing on the wall uncle! . Revival is far sighted. YOu want victory ? you have to contest from a constituency like RaGa and Khader. I know you have Badami that is similar but, you just managed to scrape there. You may not be lucky again.

Why are you blaming ur partymen for ur arrogance and vote bank politics . Few months back u blamed BJP , few days back u blamed Jds ,now you are blaming ur own Party men , Every time in every election rally u used to say that BJP have lost in by election ,people have lost faith in BJP so when you lost in ur own constituency what do u say ??? Arrogance and Vote bank politics was the main reason for ur defeat , next time you will not win in BADAMI too . And Congress also will not win because of your arrogance .

    Height of mental instability
Few months back, he was telling that BSY and BJP would lose the power, once the election are over in North India.
Now a reason for why he and congress lost power
